What The ?

My most recent videos appear to be quite dark on my old COMPAQ CRT but look great on the Dell (with a LCD) and eMachine (with a CRT).

I guess i’m not alone in having problems with the brightness, someone having rated them one star.

Bigotry – Acceptable arguement ?

Since when have bigoted statements been acceptable arguments against anything ?

Sea Shepherd founder Paul Watson called the mourners of the crew of the L’Acadien II “cigarette smoking apes“, Brigitte Bardot was convicted numerous times for her racist rants and their supporters post whatever comes to their minds, without any reservations, on blogs, message boards and media website comment boards.

I’ve also seen people being harassed on Youtube simply because they were Japanese, Inuit or Norwegian. The line has not only been crossed but this behavior is promoted by the anti-sealing organizations in order to disrupt any conversation on the subject, by reducing these to “flame wars”.

They obviously don’t want people to talk and have potential donors deterred by calm, rational discussions. It appears that “if we don’t get it, nobody will” and “the ends justify the means” are quite acceptable when it comes to the anti-sealing lobby.

Their humanity is limited to people that agree with them. They dehumanize people that don’t share their views and are at best ill mannered when these views are contested, even by moderates like yours truly.

Seriously, i’m for vegeterianism and veganism, where possible. The problem is that these lifestyles are not viable for everyone.

Google Earth’s Youtube Problems

I’ve noticed that Youtube videos haven’t been appearing on Google Earth so I did a bit of tinkering and this is what I found.

The Youtube option found in the Gallery layer had been disabled in the latest release.

To see the Youtube videos i’ve turned it on and turned “Atmosphere” off in the View menu on the top left of the screen ; I think the Atmosphere thing may have used too much of my memory. I don’t use it anyway so no big loss.

They Just Don’t Get It

Apparently some Youtubers think praise and unquestioning acceptance of the content of their videos are the only comments that they should receive.

Outside of hate and spam one doesn’t get to choose what comments one receives. A person either accepts comments or turns comments off.

The sealing issue has apparently brought out the worse in people on Youtube.

I am unable to discuss the issue at all with some because they insist on labeling me, out of frustration when they run out of propaganda to use on me.

I’ve been accused of being a sealer when I live in Ontario. I’ve been accused of being a supporter of cruelty to animals when most of my videos are of animals. I’ve been told that I read biased documents when I’ve actually said i’ve read IFAW’s and the HSUS’ documents as well. I’ve been told that the EFSA report was paid off by the Canadian Government and that it is biased – A European Union Government report !

Their frustration is quite apparent. They try to reduce the conversation to insults so they can have some justification to block people and in the end when they don’t get insults back, they block people anyway.

They obviously want easy debates, which aren’t debates at all. They classify people as this or that to use the simplistic, cookie cutter arguments they have.

Where’s the effort ?

Stuff The Spammers Don’t Want You To Read

You’re probably wondering why these spammers are on my case. It’s because I posted information they don’t want people to read, that can be found in the following links :

The March 2001 IFAW Report (pdf) – This is the one that has been exaggerated into this preposterous 42% “are skinned alive” rate. Well, it doesn’t say that. It claims there’s a possibility that 42% of the clubbing may not result in immediate unconsciousness. It doesn’t say when the 76 seals they autopsied had likely died and how long it takes for seals to die from the skull fractures they categorized. They also reviewed three years of IFAW footage and couldn’t actually say live skinning had happened. Read it for yourself.

The Feb 2002 CVMA Report (pdf) – This Canadian Veterinary Medical Association report reviewed the available information, including IFAW’s. It contradicts many of IFAW’s points so the protesters saw fit to simply dismiss it as biased and Government sponsored. The article was peer reviewed, as stated, and sponsored by the CVMA, which are sponsored by their members, pet food companies and pharmaceutical companies. It’s on their web site.

The December 2007 EFSA Report – This EU Government report dismisses many of IFAW’s claims and recognizes the serious bias found in many of the reports, including IFAW’s. It recognizes that seals are and can be killed humanely. The spammers don’t like that claim, of course. They want a ban, not additional training, so they’re back to claiming bias.

Fisheries & Oceans Of Canada Seal Hunt FAQ – The spammers keep on posting this old video featuring Martin Sheen saying 350,000 seals were hunted this year and next year. Well, the TAC in 2006 was 325,000, in 2007 is was 270,000 and in 2008 it was 275,000. In 2007 and 2008, these figures were not surpassed like many of them claim. This site confirms that less than 225,000 were caught in 2007 and Radio Canada confirms that 206,000 were caught in 2008.

IFAW Spammer

A fellow Youtube user and friend suspects that this spammer is actually a representative or employee of IFAW. I personally hope he isn’t because that would be rather cheap of the organisation – To hire someone to go around posting anti-Newfoundlander rhetoric like that ; Rhetoric that includes claims that sealers enjoy handling a certain body part from seals. Pathetic.

Well, whomever this spammer is he’s been warned to stay in line by Youtube, who failed to delete his latest incarnation on the system. Perhaps they fell for some b*ll sh*t about being victimized ? It doesn’t matter anyway – He’ll slip up, probably next spring when the propaganda comes back.

Spammers are quite generic. They’re opportunistic parasites that tend to have habits that are easily found, over and over again…  They’re lazy so they use the same words, phrases, urls, etc. Cut & pasting is what they do cause they just wont be bothered.

Anyhow, just so that you know, this blog wont just be about that generic spammer. I’ve got other issues with Youtube that should be addressed. For example, the problems Renetto and Zipster08 have been having with Youtube. ARGH
